The Opportunity:

Are you an administrative professional who loves organizing and keeping up to date records? Do you like working with a large workforce in a very dynamic environment? If so, Canadian Natural is looking for you! As the Administrative Assistant supporting Mine Operations, you will assist in the achievement of departmental goals as they support Horizon goals and targets. In addition, you will ensure consistent and timely flow of information between teams in a very fluid work environment. You will excel in this role by utilizing your strong time management and initiative skillset.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Track safety documentation – Hazard ID’s, FLHA’s and WSO’s
  • Create absenteeism and overtime reports
  • Check for upcoming progressions and ensure that the organization chart is up to date and any changes are emailed
  • Track vacation and update the vacation spreadsheet – including disability leaves
  • Enter payroll information for hourly employees (key component of this role). Ensure that timesheets are sent to the General Foreman/Lead for approval and time is balanced for the pay period
  • Provide weekly reports to Mine Operations Leadership as requested
  • Vacation coverage for other administrative areas
  • Book flights and camp, schedule overtime
  • Other general support required to support the Mine Operations Team and requested by the Area Lead/Superintendent/General Foreman

Other Details:

  • This is a temporary, 6 month role (possibility to become permanent)
  • Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Horizon Oil Sands site
  • Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton
  • Shift schedule: 8 days on, 6 days off, 10 hour shifts
  • This is a safety sensitive position

Skills & Qualifications:

  • General Administrative diploma is desired
  • 10+ years of experience in an office environment, priority will be given to candidates with a background in oil and gas
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Maximo
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills will be required to compose letters, documents and emails, on behalf of the manager
