SWITCHBOARD/RECEPTIONIST -
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Part-time/Casual
We are currently seeking a dynamic, flexible, and welcoming person to join our switchboard and Emergency Department, Reception team. The position will cover 24/7 shifts including weekends and statutory holidays and requires someone with the flexibility to respond at short notice.
The successful candidate will thrive on variety in their work, enjoy interacting with people, and can maintain a calm demeanour in times of challenge and pressure. Accurate data entry and administration skills with previous switchboard and customer service experience is an advantage, as is knowledge of GP, hospital, or similar environments. However, it is not essential. If you believe you have the ability and have demonstrated experience working in a pressured, team environment without constant supervision, we would like to hear from you.

MEDICAL WARD ADMINISTRATORS
Permanent Part-time - rotating days
(Mon-Wed week one - Thurs-Sat.am week two)
(Two Positions)
Previous reception/customer service and administrative experience is required for these challenging and satisfying opportunities located on the medical ward. Working closely with patients, families and hospital colleagues, the successful candidates will ideally have hospital, GP or allied industry experience and the ability to maintain a calm demeanour in times of challenge and pressure.
Demonstrating a supportive, willing, flexible “can do†attitude and the ability to work with limited supervision, the roles require an understanding of the health system, computer literacy and competency using MS Word and Outlook, with accurate data entry. Also essential is the ability to manage and prioritise your work. Preferred but not essential, is a knowledge of WebPAS and Clinical Portal.
These roles will suit candidates seeking an opportunity to be an essential part of a supportive team, focused on the well-being and recovery of patients and Whanau.

ADMINISTRATOR – PATIENT TRAVEL SUPPORT
Permanent Part-time
20 hours – flexible Mon - Fri
The patient travel team, responsible for ensuring timely travel assistance to patients to attend specialist appointments out of the Whanganui area, is seeking a focused, responsible, and flexible administrator to process purchase orders, payments, hospital transfers etc to support the efficient functioning of the service.
The successful candidate will enjoy accurate data entry processing and working with Excel spreadsheets, as well as liaising with internal and external customers. Intermediate – Advanced Excel, Word and Outlook is a pre-requisite and whilst not essential, knowledge of WebPAS and Clinical Portal would be an advantage.
Working closely with the Travel Co-ordinator you will be trained in all aspects of the service and ultimately cover that role for annual leave requirements.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced administrator seeking flexible working hours and keen to join a team providing critical support to patients and Whanau.

Following the update to COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021, to be employed with Whanganui District Health Board you will be required to be fully vaccinated as a health care worker. If you have already been vaccinated, you will need to provide proof of this to Occupational Health staff.
If you are not fully vaccinated you must make arrangements to undertake your first vaccination no later than 15 November 2021 and by fully vaccinated, as required by the order, by 1 January 2022.
