About the role

This role is based in the Drug Treatment Service based at Remutaka Prison.  You’ll be part of a clinical team including cultural and peer support, delivering a therapeutic programme which is having great results and outcomes. Working Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5.00pm the purpose of the role is to:

  • Deliver alcohol and other drug assistance and treatment services to help the men gain the skills and knowledge they need for positive changes in their lives.
  • This includes group facilitation, preparation of assessment and treatment plans, goal setting and report writing

 

About you

This position is ideal for a non judgemental, empathetic person with a big heart. You’ll see people for who they are, not what they have or haven't done. You’ll be authentic with good boundaries. In addition:

  • A relevant education in psychology, addictions, mental health, social work, nursing, counselling, or education
  • The ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and  ethnicities
  • Experienced in group facilitation, preparing assessment treatment plans and report writing
  • Comfortable with regular practice reviews and receptive to feedback
  • The desire and ability to support others in making changes in their lives through a range of interventions designed to build resilience and fuel the  desire to change
  • Working in a prison environment is different. You’ll need to understand, or be willing to learn this way of working (a site visit will form part of the recruitment process)
  • You’ll need to be vaccinated and undergo a police check
