Full job description
The successful candidate will assist with supportive counseling with individual and group work and educational/information sessions. Responsibilities also include the overall safety and security of the clients and facility, documentation and shift reporting. The incumbent will be required to work rotating shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o College Diploma in Social Services.
o Minimum two years working experience in addictions and behavioral counseling.
o Experience and knowledge of addictions - including treatment modalities and pharmacology; mental health services; case management- including assessment, goal setting, individual and group counseling.
o Must be able to work in emotionally charged environment at time characterized by high stress.
o Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities.
o Demonstrated ability in community and conflict management.
o Experience in delivery of psycho-educational sessions and process groups required.
o Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
o Evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment and decision making skills.
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Proficient in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
