The opportunity

We are currently accepting applications for our 2022 Aboriginal Maritime Services Traineeship Program. This is a one-year program that combines paid work and structured training, allowing you to receive a nationally accredited qualification upon completion. On completion of the first year, you will have an opportunity to apply for a second year working with Maritime for career development.

The primary purpose of this traineeship is to develop skills and knowledge to prepare the trainee for a career in the Maritime Industry.

Opportunities available in Rozelle, Carrington (Newcastle) and Nowra. Carrington trainees may be located at various locations in North region including but not limited to: Newcastle, Port Macquarie. Nowra trainees may also spend time in Port Kembla.

• Certificate II in Maritime Operations (completed in house at Maritime)

Please note:

As the roles are operational you will be required to work weekends and in-line with Operational hours which vary and range from earliest start time 6am and latest finish time 6pm. Subject to change.

Travel will be required to head office at Rozelle and various locations in order to complete the traineeship. Maritime will cover costs of accommodation (in line with Transport policy) for scheduled work travel.

About you 

You proudly identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. You are an energetic and determined individual and will have:

• Achieved a Year 10 minimum educational qualification
• basic level of swimming

Please note: Minimum of 16 years of age at commencement of traineeship

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is National Training Wage $22,703 â€“ $35,138 per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
