About the role:
The Solution Architect is responsible for overseeing and owning the solution architecture and other architectural artefacts across Whitbread, as part of the Solution Analysis team.
The role is responsible for working with stakeholders within and outside IT, this role’s responsibility is to ensure that a common technical framework is defined and adopted across the organisation. This role is also responsible for establishing and governing best practice IT design. This role owns the solution architecture delivered from the Solution Analysis team and acts as internal consultant to the projects and initiatives involved across all our systems. It provides high level knowledge and expertise of how our systems fit together and a broader context of the external world of IT and hospitality in general.
What you’ll be doing:
Working with the Principal Architects and contributing to the platform technical roadmap, and alongside working with the Solution analysis team and software delivery teams on a day-to-day basis to ensure the delivery of new solutions is in adherence to overarching standards and aligned with strategic roadmap.
Working with external parties, suppliers and internal members of the IT team and business units to research, define and document the solution architecture and high-level designs for major new initiatives.
Working with the Analyst Practice Manager to review, align and prioritise projects so that work is not unnecessarily duplicated and is correctly sequenced against known dependencies.
Actively research, evaluate, own and drive solution architecture processes and innovations, working with the Solutions Analysis team and also define how Whitbread platforms and working practices are kept up to date providing maximum productivity and cost effectiveness.
Working with Business Analysts, Business Stakeholders, Solutions Architect and Service Delivery teams to understand, review and provide guidance on the functional, non-functional and service design requirements and then translate these into clear, coherent solution architecture
Developing and communicating Solution architecture principles, standards, patterns specific to Whitbread IT landscape and strategic direction.
Working with Project Managers to ensure that realistic delivery estimates that adequately reflect the complexity of the solution design are factored into the delivery process and ensuring that the Solution Architecture is appropriately communicated to all stakeholders and that the implications and rationale behind key design options are well understood and support informed choices.
What you’ll need:
Solid solution architecture experience across multiple areas within Technology (HR, Finance, Commercial, Data)
Familiarity with patterns, practices and frameworks of Enterprise Architecture.
Broad & up-to-date knowledge of IT capabilities & services including cloud computing, end user computing, on-premise hosting, identity and access management, virtualisation, application development & management, device management, mobility solutions.
Experience of working in a technology-based role and interfacing to a varied number of internal and external stakeholders
Stay up to date with emerging technology trends. Seek to innovate and champion new technologies/frameworks/tools where appropriate.
