Which industry pays the most?

The Best-Paying Jobs And Industries In the U.S.

If you look at studies that rank the occupations that make the most money, you'll see that many of the same professions are vying for the top spot. This is because these jobs tend to pay the most. Although many of them need a unique set of skills, they almost always call for extensive levels of education, years of experience, and rigidly defined credentials.

According to the most recent earnings data published by LinkedIn, a huge professional networking and job search portal, this is exactly what has been found. According to the company's State of the Salary Report, which was released on the 30th of August, the occupations with the highest salaries are found in the corporate leadership sector and the healthcare industry. According to LinkedIn, the analysis is based on wage information collected from more than two million of the company's users as of April 2017.

10 Jobs in the United States That Pay Very Well

The position of orthopedic surgeon comes in first place, with a median annual salary of $450,000. This figure accounts for both the base salary and the median bonus of $60,000 that might be associated with the employment.

Cardiologists are in second place, after specialists in orthopedics, which places them in the number two spot. Those that want to make a profession out of this sector bring in a yearly salary of $382,000 on average. The typical yearly bonus amounts to around $50,000 on average.

And coming in at number three on our list are radiologists, who bring in a median salary of $374,000, not counting the yearly bonuses of $50,000 (if they get them).

Within the top 20 highest-paying positions, eight of those jobs are in the medical field, and the majority of those jobs have annual salaries that are more than $300,000. Six out of the top ten positions are held by medical professionals.

Gender

According to a research conducted by LinkedIn, high-paying sectors often employ a greater number of males than women. There are 4.7 males for every 1 single woman working in the software industry. There are 2.3 males for every woman working in the field of hardware and networking, and there are more than three times as many men as there are women working in manufacturing.

In the field of healthcare, women are in the majority overall, with just 0.5 males for every one woman. Gender parity is closer to being achieved in the financial sector, where men and women make up practically an equal proportion of workers.

The building, the neighborhood, the neighborhood

It should come as no surprise that positions and industry alone are insufficient to provide a complete picture of the changes in remuneration that have occurred in the United States. Location is another crucial consideration to take into account. When LinkedIn combed through its mountains of data, the company found that some regions of the nation had employment that pay more than they do in other parts of the country.

For example, registered nurses in the metropolitan area of San Francisco earn more than $67,000 per year, which is 81 percent more than the average salary throughout the country for this profession. The typical salary of a police officer in the same location is $60,000, which is 72 percent greater than the average salary throughout the country. However, it is important to note that the cost of living in San Francisco is often greater than it is in many other parts of the nation; as a result, companies have little choice but to offer their employees a higher wage.

In the meanwhile, the compensation of a program director in Washington, District of Columbia, is $70,000, which is 86 percent more than the average income for this post throughout the country. A media income of $145,000 per year is earned by the main software engineer of a firm in Seattle, which is 48 percent higher than the national average salary for this position.
